Winter is great time to layer up and hide imperfections that a little harder to hide in the heat when there is more skin showing. But that does not mean that all sense of style should go out the door. On the other hand, winter is great time to show off your sophisticated side with layers. Lets look at some winter fashion ideas for women over 40.
Layers
Add multiple layers when it is very cold out. You will feel cozier and can always remove layers when going indoors. But more importantly, layers provide dimension to your look. Example, long sleeves top underneath a sweater vest underneath a blazer over pants or jeans can provide a more ensembled look. Just adding that additional layer gives the feel of effort.
Faux Fur
This is just a fun, retro way to add a level of sophistication to your look when worn at the right time. Most people think that they don’t know where to wear a faux fur jacket. But having one on hand to wear to holiday parties, dinners or winter time events can really level up your winter style.
Boots
Having several different boots in various colors and heel sizes to dress up your look can really make a difference. Ankle sized wedge booties are great to wear with cropped pants and a sweater. The slight heel will give a great length to the legs if the same color as the pants and add power to this look. Try this look with black from head to toe and add some jewelry to add some color to the monotone. On snowy days a leather flat boot with jeans and a long blazer or cardigan can be a great way to keep the feet dry and look nice. A knee length suede boot with a skirt or dress and tights and a short blazer is a refined way to keep warm.
